Freezing During Download
The most common reason for this problem is poor connection between your
computer and our servers. This can be caused by your ISP or any number
of internet routers between your system and our servers that may be
experiencing problems. Another known issue is the use of web accelerator
programs. If you are using a web accelerator, turn it off and try again.
The Zoo's game software uses port 4000 to communicate between your computer
and our servers. If you firewall has port 4000 blocked, you will not be able
to connect. Also try improving performance by following the steps that follow
or go to Microsoft's Performance Page
Clearing your cache manually also fixes alot of freezing issues
Follow the instructions below on Clearing Cache to do this properly
Other Reasons for freezing could be: Dial-up connection, Wrong Server listed in settings,
outdated Video card or Sound Card Drivers, missed Windows updates and Port/Router Issues.
These issues are covered below.
Updating Video/Sound Drivers
Update your video/sound drivers. This step is especially important if you
experience a freeze or crash when installing or using Flash Player or You use
dial-up. Right-click on your Desktop and choose Properties, Settings, Advanced
and Adapter to view the manufacturer's name. Refer to the manufacturer's
web site to download drivers or for assistance with installing the latest drivers.
Most manufacturers have downloads that will automatically install for you after
you download them. Be sure to REBOOT your PC after updating any drivers.
Dial-Up and The Zoo
Please realize if your on dial up the Zoo's continuas feed requiremnts are
that your connection remain active for a certain amount of time to give room
updates ect.. If your dial up lags somewhat this info is lost and your
connection may be lost. This mostly happens during connect and locks up the
player in the load process. I suggest of course a DSL or cable connection
however we are aware of the dial up issue and hope to get a definitive way
to solve this issue soon. Please realize you are at a slow speed connecting
to a multi-user area with streams of info coming in and an unstable connection
does not help this situation.
Tip: Try updating your drivers for Sound and Video. Also Manually update Windows
Instructions for doing these tips are on this page.
The amount of cache is also a known issue with dial-up
Follow the steps to increasing cache bellow to fix this issue
Checking and Fixing Server Settings
1. Click Start then Run then Type regedit and hit Enter
2. Scroll to hkey_currentuser - Now click software and then zoogames.
3. Right click the zoogames folder and then Settings.

or a custom level which does not allow viewing of ActiveX controls.
To view your Security level, from within Internet Explorer:

2. In the Security tab, choose Internet.
3. Click the 'Medium: Default Level' which will allow you to view
Flash content.
NOTE. For any Custom Level, ensure that both "Download Signed
ActiveX controls" and "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" are not Disabled.
(Enable or Prompt will work).
Clearing History and Cookies
If your lagging or disconnecting often Clear Your Cache and Cookies.
1.Select Tools in windows explorer then options.
2. When the box opens Select delete files - Then select delete cookies - Click OK
3. Close Explorer and then open My Computer.
4. Also delete files in temporary directories, these Temporary files can be found
in various directories. The directories to focus on are:
C:\WINDOWS\Temp and C:\Documents and Settings\{Identity}\Local Settings\Temp
Shut down all running programs before attempting to delete the contents of the above
folders. If a file is necessary to a program or background process still running on
your system an error message stating that the file is in use will appear. If you are
unable to delete a particular file despite shutting down all running programs, write
down the name of the file causing the error. Delete everything above, and then
everything below, the problem file and concern yourself no further. Our aim is to
get rid of as much detritus as possible, but it does not matter if some bits and
pieces are left behind.
Tip: The Disk Cleanup utility is an easy way to delete cached and temporary files.
It can be accessed by navigating to Accessories from All Programs on the Start menu,
then opening the System Tools folder.
